Purpose of the Practicum:
Each student who is interested in gaining an Archives or Museum Libraries Certificate at Pratt Institute’s School of Information and Library Science must finish a Practicum course. The course requires at least 100 hours of on-site work experience supervised by an information professional in a setting that reflects my interests, 4 seminar sessions, and a project based on site experience research and observation. This section of my website is dedicated to my Practicum course internship which will be done under the supervision of Brigette Kamsler, Project Archivist at the Burke Theological Library, during the Fall 2012 semester. I have a dedicated page to the daily journal, since I must keep of my activities and hours during my internship. Be sure to take a look at the comments for the journal entries, sometimes I add news articles that relate to what I was doing that day or just interesting things that connect to the topics discussed. Other pages will highlight the interview I conducted with Ms. Kamsler and the resulting paper, photographs of the site, links to the finding aids I have created for the various archival collections I will be in charge of, and the final project research paper and PowerPoint.
